Moving military style

Our things finally arrived and as expected some things were damaged. The movers arrived on a Saturday and my house became a mess in about 4 hours. I wanted to start unpacking the boxes so  they could take some of the trash with them but after an hour of unpacking I ran out of space to move and I gave up.

This crate was missing half the door and I'm sure that some things probably fell out and they were thrown back in. It's hard to say who opened it.

One of my kitchen chairs- busted maybe wood glue can put it back together.

This is the mess I was left with after the movers left. The whole house was a disaster but the kitchen was the worse.

Over and over again I kept finding things that I asked the movers to put in storage and I guess they ignored me, because it's here. Now I either have to give it away or find somewhere or some way to store it all.

The living room is awful, I did manage to make a path so that we could walk.

I have a lot of work ahead of me and hopefully in a few days I can post the after photos.
Who am I kidding? Maybe in a month I can post the after photos.

3200 miles later

3200 miles, that's how many miles we put on the rental car by the time we turned it in. We dove to Missouri down through Texarkana and down to Lake Charles, La. Then towards New Orleans, and then back to North Carolina, luckily our passports and visa's had come in. And then we drove north to Virginia.
We stayed at our friends house and took the metro to the National Mall. It was nice to see it at night, we always go in the day time but it's so different at night.

The World War II memorial is my favorite.

Brody is still too young to understand the memorials and what they represent. He asked if Medusa had done this to the soldiers, he's so funny.

The day before we left we found out that our Louie was not going to be allowed to fly because his breed, and short nosed breeds were not allowed to fly until September. Luckily we have someone watching him and I will be trying to get him over as soon as we can. I was so mad with the airline for not telling us that he couldn't fly when we made the reservation. It would have been nice to get a phone call or something.

Home Sweet Home

This is a four generation photo. My husband with our son, his father, and grandfather. We are not often together.. so it was nice to get this photo.

Mick was going to grow a beard while on leave but he shaved about 3 days after this photo. Every time we go on leave, I try to get him to grow his beard.

Our last night in Louisiana we went to Mandeville, LA and we had dinner at The Rusty Pelican, which has great food and a good atmosphere. After dinner we let Brody play at the park near Lake Pontchartrain.

I love this picture, my son stands with his hands in his pockets all the time too.

It would not be a complete trip without seeing an alligator

Louisiana is hot, muggy, humid and the mosquitoes will carry you away. But one look at the oak trees covered in Spanish moss and the beautiful Acadian houses, the wind blowing off the water and I want to live here again. I want this life again... God has a plan for us and right now and I don't know what it is, but  if I'm meant to live here again I know it will happen.

Psalm 19:1 the heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.

Someone's watching out for us...

Everything has been working out for us, lately. Our house was on the market for about 22 days and we had an offer that we could live with. I really loved our house and miss it already.
Everything has been going so smoothly,  we also sold our truck just in time and got we wanted for it. Both cars have been shipped and we going on a two week trip to Missouri, and Louisiana.

Sydney had her Junior prom. She asked me not to post any pictures but I don't think one will hurt.

We took a quick day trip to Wilmington and the aquarium. It's going to be a while before we're near a warm beach again.

I had to drop my car off in Baltimore, so we spent a night in DC and walked around King St.

And Sydney 's last week of school, she received an award for highest PSAT sore in her school.

We're Moving

We have been stationed in North Carolina for 9 years and last October we got new orders. I could hardly believe it. My son has been here his whole life and Sydney has pretty much grown up here. I will miss you North Carolina, your beautiful beaches, mountains, and bar b que.

We hadn't told many people  because there are a few things that had to be approved. But now I can announce to everyone that we are moving. I am literally sitting in my living room surrounded by stuff, waiting for the movers to arrive and pack us up.

So below are a few hints of where we are going.

Okay well they aren't exactly hints. We are moving to ENGLAND, the UK. We'll be eating in pubs, eating fish and chips, and having tea with the queen.

We are super excited! And I have already made my bucket list. This big change happens next month.

I have to say I give all thanks to God. Everything that needed to happen to make this a smooth move has happened, and I could not be more grateful.
