Not a baby anymore

Brody has turned 4 and informed me that he is not a little baby anymore. What am I going to do now? He doesn't want me to call him a little baby, and he wants to do more and more on his own.
We had a great turn out at the house I think I had about 19 people in all, my neighbor convinced me to make gumbo and the kids had hot dogs. I had a few gumbo virgins and a few pros, it turned out really tasty. I just tried to enjoy the day, there was no pressure to stick to a schedule we just played it by ear. I did the craziest thing ever, I decided on Monday to paint my kitchen I was not finished with it until Friday morning so that meant that everything else had to be done on Friday in order to have the party Saturday. I think that is why I was so exhausted that I just wanted to enjoy watching the kids and spending time with friends. We had an Easter egg hunt, a Batman piñata, and then had cake, and opened presents.

I think this was after the piñata was broken and Brody was looking for some candy.

Here is Sydney helping the little kids look for eggs she and her friend Jordan hid for me. It is great that she is older and is a big help.

More egg hunting in the front yard

The kids took turns riding Brody's truck the adults took turns jumping out of the way

Mustang Monday

Mick has been working so hard on his mustang. The UPS and Fed Ex guys are going to be on my Christmas list because I see them so often. These are mostly pictures of the engine, and of the engine bay.. all I seem to know is that the engine bay needs to be finished in order to put the engine inside. (ha! and he thinks I don't listen) oh yeah, and some wires need to be replaced.

I really like those blue things, they make it look nice.

The engine bay he has been sanding to get ready for some paint

We spent all day Saturday painting the garage walls and in a couple of weeks we should be done with the floor in there. Maybe one day I will actually get pictures of things that are finished.

soccer time again

It's that time again; soccer games, soccer practice, soccer girls, and soccer parents. I've been driving all over the county to watch Sydney play but I really don't mind she loves it and they are doing pretty good. The only one complaining is Brody, after about 30 minutes he is ready to go home and he has no interest in watching his sister. I am a people watcher and I have a good time watching the parents at the games you'd think they are the ones playing. Some moms are running on the sides and kicking there legs while others are yelling at the refs, it's hilarious. I will be spending the next few weeks going to her games so I expect there will be more pictures of girls soccer.

Moores Creek National Battlefield

This past weekend we took to kids to Moores Creek National Battlefield to see the annual reenactment of the battle that took place between the British and North Carolina loyalist in 1776. It was about 20 minutes outside of Wilmington, we've been here for several years and this was the first time we have gone. It was a very nice park it's very clean a lot of families brought there own food and were having a picnic.

They had a few tents on display and I am sure glad that I didn't have to sleep in those, they slept on straw and a couple of blankets that is all they had.

The cannons were very loud and Brody was trying his best to cover his ears.

This picture was taken on the bridge between the creek where the battle took place it's amazing how close you had to be to fight the enemy.

This lady was demonstrating how they used to spin wool to make there clothes. She explained how the farmers were expected to send all their to cotton to Britain for free and they would turn the cotton into fabric that would be sold back to the farmers for high prices and taxed so high most farmers couldn't afford it.

Brody with a historic rock, so I had to take it home.

I am in the mood for.....

Painting! One good thing about all this really cold weather, we've been having is that I have been able to stay inside where it is nice and toasty to paint. I have removed 25 drywall screws and repaired the holes with many more to go. I am currently painting my daughter's room a really pretty purple color I will be sure to post those pictures soon. There are two walls in her room that are 13 ft high so I am risking life and limb to stand on a 10 ft ladder and balance the paint on the step to paint a room. Is there something wrong with me? I think living on base with plain white walls has caused me to want to add some color everywhere that I can. Below is some pictures I took of rooms that I have already painted.

Master Bedroom after picture

it was very plain yellow beige shade, there were about 6 holes in this room to repair.

I chose a blue-green color that is very soothing, now I just have to start hanging some pictures on the wall.

This is the kids bath this was taken while I was painting I don't have any before. So try to imagine a green bathroom with those really cheap towel fixtures and brass everywhere.

The color I chose was light blue and I changed all the towel rods and hooks but, maybe in a few months I won't have any more brass in here.

And I still have to finish hanging pictures

This is my laundry room it was a plain white and dirty.

I chose a really fun color in here I don't think the pictures really give it justice but the color is called Bleached Cypress and it's very bright.
