Museum trip that didn't happen

The thing you have to remember about Sundays, everything is either closed, or opens late and closes early. Our family is used to just getting up an hitting the road for adventure but that doesn't always work in this country.
I thought it would be nice to head over to Cambridge, and maybe go to the Fitzwilliam museum and maybe tour Kings College but it just didn't work out. The museum was not open until later in the day and we ended up just walking around Cambridge and enjoying the day away from home.

I absolutely love this city, the school are beautiful and there is so much history behind these walls.

Cambridge is a big city but nearly all the schools are located in a relatively small area. Which makes it an ideal place to visit. We only live about 30 mins away and I know we will make it back to tour some colleges and the Fitzwilliam museum.

Luckily the market was wonderful as always and we ended the day with some Belgium waffles.

We also went to one of our favorite malls and some musicians were outside playing music in the street.

Getting the last bit in.

In a few more weeks things will never be the same again. My kids will be separated and they won't see each other on a daily basis. So these next few weeks we are going to try and get the very last bit of family time we can.

This pretty girl is off to college soon and our house will never be the same again.

We visited the Abbey gardens in Bury St Edmunds. I love coming here, it's so pretty and peaceful.

Perhaps one day, I'll come on a Sunday and attend mass.

We forgot to bring bread for the ducks but they still came close, to check us out.

Trying not to cry when I think of them being separated for several months at a time.

I love coming to Bury on the weekends, it's when I really feel like we are living in an England. There are so many shops and things to try at the market.

Hunstanton Beach

Hunstanton lies on the east coast of England but faces the west coast. It's about an hour and half from our home and it's the only beach we have visited so far.

We picked a great day to go because it was nice and warm. Even the water was very warm on the shallow end.

Hunstanton Beach is a family and pet friendly beach, no spring breakers here and there is a small store next to the beach but other than that, not much else.

Here you can also see the cliffs although not quite as large as the ones in Beachy Head or White Cliffs.

For some reason my kid decided not to wear his bathing suit on the beach, instead he wore it home.

Happy Independence Day!

I never thought I'd be celebrating the fourth of July in the country we won our independence from, but here we are. For the festivities we went to a nearby base and enjoyed the fair and food booths. Mick volunteered at 2 food booths and was MIA most of the day until the fireworks started.

I love this vintage double decker

There was a whole kid section, where the kids could play, and this bubble game was Brody's favorite.  They stick your kid inside a ball and blow it up with air then they let them roll around in a pool of water.

Here he is getting all zipped up and ready to go.

Standing up is not as a easy at it looks.

The Red Arrows performed in the sky and they did a great job.

Luckily we had friends that lived on the base and we were able to hang out with them for a while and take a break from time to time. It was pretty chilly by the time the fireworks got started.

I think 70% of the people out for the fireworks were British.

All in all a memorable fourth of July.
