Homecoming

So I probably went to the airport about 4 times in one week. But Sydney finally made it home from her vacation and Mick made it back too. We had a great homecoming Brody and I greeted him at the airport with hugs and kisses. I really hate deployments that are more than just a few months. I know I should not complain, other branches have to deploy for a year or more.

I had to post some of the pictures from our yard. I was so proud of all my hard work.

My husband bought me 3 rose bushes for Mother's day. This was 1 of them.



I plant elephant ears wherever we live if I can, they remind me of Louisiana.

                     My first try at planting tomatoes, I had so many that I gave away almost all of them.



Show me something Missouri

I'm trying to catch up on my blog post and vowing not to get behind again. We decided to visit my husbands family in Missouri, right before school started. Missouri is a lot prettier in the summer but we always seem to go when it's cold so this was a nice treat. Missouri is where my husband grew up, he had some great memories of living there and always talks about moving back someday. I think we'll have to think about that, only because I'm always saying there is nothing to do, and it's the middle of nowhere.  

We spent most of our time at my mother-in-laws house catching up and hearing stories about my husband when he was a little boy. Our son is definitely made from the same mold as his daddy. I always wonder where he gets his energy. He is so funny and he always coming up with things that make us say "what in the world is he talking about".  My brother in law came to visit as well and he's a hoot, and good story teller. It was really nice to see them again and I  wished that we lived closer to family. But that is military life you have to go where they send you and make wherever you are home.

 Beautiful fishing areas and the water is so clean.

 Picking up sticks for the roaring fire, he is so anxious to start. I don't think these sticks are gonna cut make that much difference.

 Uncle Dave gets it started and oh boy he has a new best friend.

 

 This place is called Boiling Springs I am not sure why, because this spring is freezing and it just looks like a hole in the side of a cliff that looks so deep I wouldn't dare let Brody get too close.

 Down the road a bit there is a small beach where people go and float on the water, jump in from a rope swing and hang out in their lawn chairs. 

This old building was awesome, it was really big and I wish we'd had more time I would have taken our picture in front of it.  

This is a local fish hatchery and we went to take a look at all the trout and feed them.

I wish we could have brought a net, I love trout.

On the way home we stopped in Tennessee and went to Wonder Works with the kids. I had no idea how much fun this place was. They give great military discounts for all you dependents and active duty members. My camera died right after this picture otherwise, I would have posted some the fun stuff they had to do inside.

A walk outside

Flowers have a way of changing my mood instantly, anytime I need a little pick me up I head outside where I get some fresh air and take it all in. Maybe I'm a little weird but I love to cut grass, pull weeds, and get my hands in the dirt. Because, after all that hard work the reward is a beautiful yard and flower beds. I am so lucky that this house already had tons of flowers and I just had to wait to see what would pop out. Next year my yard will look even nicer, I have plans for my trimmers and shovel. There is still a lot of work to be done before the outside of my house looks just right. In the meantime I enjoying this little lovely's and still waiting for a few more things to bloom.

My neighbor has a walnut tree and it's right next my side of the fence. She doesn't want them so I will have plenty for baking.
