What do you know about Nascar racing?

Well I don't know much about Nascar, except that it's on the speed channel a lot around here. The hubby watches the qualifying race, the practice, the pre-race show, the race, and then the after-race show. I just walk by with a basket full of laundry and casually ask "who's winning?" only to be told the race hasn't started. So on MY birthday, my husband and I took a day just for ourselves without the kiddos, and went to my very first Nascar race. I couldn't believe that on my birthday we were going to sit in the sun and watch cars race around a track, smell burnt rubber, and have dust thrown in my face, but that is exactly what I did. And you know what? I loved it. The cars are so fast I could hardly tell who was going by and the wrecks are the best part of the whole thing. The first wreck was so exciting the roar of the crowd, parts flying off the car, sparks flying in the air, the smell of burnt rubber, it was awesome!!! I was really glad that my first race the All-Star race because, it was one of the shorter races. I can't imagine sitting there for 500 laps or something. Maybe next year we can come out again even if it is for my birthday.

This picture has nothing to do with Nascar, but it's not every day that you see a bird at your hotel. It was great entertainment while we waited for the shuttle. Here he is pertending to be an eagle.

he's been shot

and now he's dead

These are the guys you see on TV during the race.

I got ear plugs on cause, it's a lot louder than I ever thought possible.

coming out of the pits

One of the wrecks happened right in front of us, that's good stuff.

The start of the second race, the driver and his crew go around the track.

Kurt Bush won the race, and he did  his signature move which is to drive the victory lap backwards. That looks pretty hard.

Kyle Petty, Kenny Wallace and Chris Meyers.

This chick sitting behind us was totally wasted, she slept through most of the race.

But when she woke up I asked her to take a picture of us and she said her camera was dead. So I said that's okay, you can use mine. haha!!!

And here it is.

Let's go out to ball park...

A few weeks ago we took the kids to the ball park to watch the Carolina Mudcats play. Mick and I enjoyed watching the game but the kids would rather watch people around us. We couldn't have asked for a better night to go because the weather was so nice, all the kids got free t-shirts, and Brody discovered the most awesome invention ever, dippin dots!!! We were behind home plate and towards the end of the game Sydney moved from the seat next to me to the other side of Mick, and just in time two hits later a fly ball came over the fence and landed right where she'd been sitting. It was so funny, I thought I'd be able to catch it but at the last moment with people screaming I decided to run for cover. Some man got it after it bounced it's way down the stands. Maybe we'll try to go again before the summer is over, I like going on Friday nights because they have a fireworks show after the game.

This was a funny game with volunteers dressed like sumo wrestlers and the mascots kept knocking them down.

I think this was right after Brody said "gimme a dollar I want another ice-cream"

And this must be right after I told him no, way to go Mick.

Eating his dippin dots

Eating his popcorn, notice the concentration he puts forth for his snacks.

Brody took this picture notice the blur. He also took a picture of an older man sitting next to us and called him paw paw but Syd deleted the picture.

Game over. Quick Mick lets go before they start asking for more food.

Doing the small things that will mean so much to us later.

Dog days of summer

Summer days are finally here and we are enjoying our pool so much. The kids have gone swimming everyday this week and unless it's raining they are outside playing. Mick and I have gotten in a couple of times but not as much as the kids. Brody is usually so tired after swimming he'll ask to take a bath and then goes to his room and falls asleep. Everyone is loving the pool except Louie, I guess Bostons' don't like to swim much but he likes to watch. Sydney's friends have come over to swim and I love it, the great thing about having a pool is that her friends come to our house and I always know where my teenager is.

Louie is getting so big --well not really big.
Love this picture, it looks like he's sticking his tongue out at me.

He's so ugly he's cute

Relaxing

Brody had googles on and they left a mark on his face.

He's working on his tan

A constant struggle with these two.

Garage Makeover

Mick's garage is finished we did a lot of work in here. The shelves came down and some will go back but not until they are painted. We painted the walls and then the floor, thank goodness that we had friends come on the floor day to help out because it takes two people. It's all ready for the mustang, hopefully by the end of the month it will be in here.

This is a before picture before we moved in.
