Before and after

My son's room is the first big re-do in this house. I just finished painting his room--I love how it turned out. Still have a few more things left to do. I hope to get it all his pictures hung this weekend.

This the room before we moved in, Harley Davidson theme and orange was on one wall. The border went around the whole room. I think I must have patched 10 drywall screw holes, the past owners did not believe in picture hangers. There are drywall screws all over this house.

I painted 3 walls in blue and the old orange wall with stripes

I just love how the white trim in his room really "pops" I can't wait to hang his posters.

I am sure the furniture will be moved around a couple times before I get it right.

Doing the stripes was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. Thank goodness for painters tape.

One long month

I am finally getting settled, and we are almost unpacked. We bought a house moved some of our things to the new house and then left the next day for New Orleans. I don't recommend going on vacation the day after you buy a house, all we thought about was all the work we could have been doing. When we got back home, we had a couple of nice days of weather and then it got really cold which made it near impossible to clean the old house. I am still trying to figure out where to hang my pictures and I am sure that every room in this house is going to be painted. I am not happy with the colors in this house they are so dark and I really don't care for the color orange which is in a couple of rooms including the kitchen. While we were New Orleans we stayed a few days with Micky's grandpa  and then we drove out to my moms and stayed a few days with her. We had a nice Christmas at my moms and the kids were excited especially Brody. This is the second Christmas in row we have not been home... next year we are going to be staying home.

On the GNO bridge

We took the kids to the New Orleans children's museum

Brody loved this train set and spent almost all his time playing here.

Sydney was glad that they added some new things since the last time we were here.

Playing on the small tug boats and barges was so much fun. Brody kept saluting and saying

"aye, aye, captain!"

here he is at the controls.

In New Orleans you learn how to boil crawfish at an early age.

My favorite thing at the museum is this child size Winn Dixie,

Micky likes it too, he just won't admit it.

So cute!!

Sydney was taking it a little too serious.

They also have a play restaurant where kids can bring you a menu and then go in the kitchen and make your food.

CHEERS

After all that play we walked over to Mulate's and had some Cajun food. Sydney is my picky eater and we were shocked that she tried and loved alligator!!!

what nice memories we will have of this day.

Sydney's Christmas gift I hope to have it hanging in here new room in a couple of weeks.

This is the mess we left in our new house before we left it for a week. What were we thinking?

Lawman

Steven Seagal has a new reality show on A&E called Lawman and it is my new favorite show. Micky and I used to work for the Jefferson Parish Sheriffs office and we know some of the cops on the show with him. I worked with one of the deputies that's a regular on the show. When the show is on we try to figure out what street they are driving on. We try to recognize who they are talking to and if we know anybody. The show is mostly real except for the special effects that make it seem like Seagal has special vision, where he can see things that the normal human can't. Mostly I am glad not to be living in Jefferson Parish anymore because of the crime rate and the heat. You can see the sweat just beading off of their foreheads, and not to mention they are all out of shape. In the last two episodes they haven't caught anyone on foot. Overall it is a pretty cool show and hope people check it out. Working for JPSO was one of the most interesting, easiest, and the funniest place I have ever worked at. While on vacation I hope to go there and visit some people that still work there.

House

After an intense couple of days, fighting over some WINDOWS that the seller didn't want to repair, we have won. Yes I said, "windows" they were willing to let the house go back on the market and pay another mortgage payment rather than spend 300 dollars and repair a window. Hopefully we don't have anymore problems and this house will be ours by next week. I am going full speed ahead on packing and cleaning base housing. I just wish we could have some nice weather so I can finish the yard.
I just got my new Ikea catalog and I am making my list. My favorite reason for going to Concord, is shopping at Ikea and Mick's is Bass Pro Shop. Below are some more pictures of the rest of the house.

Mustang Progress

Mick has been busy trying to get his car back to running condition. He's painted the motor,
cleaned out the engine bay and yesterday he had a new windshield installed. He still has a long way to go but he is optimistic that it will be up and running by March. Keep watching for more progress pics.

New Home

I love watching the show "House Hunters" on HGTV but I don't like house hunting myself. Last weekend after three excruciating hours we found the house that we are going to buy. We only looked at four houses. What can I say, we know what we want when we see it. Only thing is we are going to be signing the paperwork the day before we go on vacation --bummer. We won't be able to move in until after Christmas and we are so anxious to get in. So far this has been a painless procedure and we are still waiting on the appraisal but I think everything will be fine. Just keeping my fingers crossed, below are some pictures I took during the inspection.

We can't wait until Summer when we can get in the pool and hang out on the deck.

Mick and I fell in love with the house as soon as we entered the kitchen, I love the updates they did on the tile floors and counters. The colors are a little bold but I might keep them.

This living room is going to be a challenge because the wall space is limited. Furniture placement is going to be hard.

This dinning room doesn't have a lot of wall space either. But, since it is going to be used as an office I don't think we will need it.

Living room has a nice view of the pool and deck.
